Are young people out of control?

The newspapers are constantly reporting instances of seemingly younger and younger people involved in violent incidents, often involving drink and drugs.

Are Britain’s youth getting less and less respectful of law and order, or is this a myth spread by lazy journalists to sell papers? Have you witnessed anti social behaviour from young people? Share your thoughts.

Are you stupid? Of course you are defending streetgangs behaving badly! The govt have NOT banned parents from smacking children NOR do they have plans to(a good smack round the bottom or quick hard painful slap across the face brings a defiant kid/teen into line where they won't do as they are told);and so it should. Being soft on young people when they do wrong by withdrawal of priveleges/groundings etc doesn't always work because soft punishment means nothing to them whatsoever. Majority of youths are good you say? Which planet do you come from?

To be completely honest I am totally disgusted with the majority of people who have commented on this. It is, firstly, an unfair question, as it is clearly accompanied by a picture of youths in a threatening pose, with faces covered. Surely you can't take this seriously?
Secondly you are all too eager to simply go, 'Why yes, they youth are completely out of control.' With no thought as to the ones who do actually behave themselves, and do actually want to achieve, and do respect their elders.
Continuing on from that, I think it is a disgrace that the majority of you are willing to blame it on the government. The fact that they are removing the right to hit your child, an experience you no doubt had yourselves, is surely a good one? It will prevent abuse. When you see a child beaten on the news you are disgusted, and yet want to legalise it?
I am 15 years old, and can articulate better than most of you, surely it is people like you who are the problem? Willing to sit on your laurels and yet not pay attention to people like me, who are willing to stand up for the majority of youths, who are in fact intelligent people.

OK dogooders if you think being a softie softie towards a gang of kids on a street corner drinking/smoking/discharging and letting off fireworks/being rowdy and abusive to residents and passersby/damaging property/vandalising cars/smashing windows/harrassing old people etc and trying to get a word in edgeways will work then you are ALL sadly mistaken. These kids want a good hiding and their parents locking up because they are basically unfit to parent. If I had a kid who did any of the above and came home smelling of drink and drugs and were stoned up to the eyeballs on cannabis brought home by the police, they would get a slap across the face and I would disown them and they wouldn't be welcome to my house ever again(I was thrashed around for NOT doing as I was told by my parents, what makes todays kids think they should be any different from myself?)
