Now that the legal minimum age for purchasing tobacco has been raised from 16 to 18, will less young people take up smoking? Should the responsibility fall to retailers, or should it be illegal to smoke at 16? Have your say.
This country is now every man for himself.
Rules will change nothing, whether it's to do with smoking, drinking, vandalism, or anything else for that matter.
The goverment have take this country to such a low level, I personally don't think it will EVER change for the better.
personal i think they should raise it to 21, but it still will not stop them get a hold of them as shops sell it to them still because underage kids are there best customers the law is all backwards to me. i think that only certain shops should be able to sell cigarettes where people would take there time to check people ids
Did banning hand guns stop criminals from using them ?
Has making hard drugs illegal stopped their use ?
Has making it illegal for kids to by booze stopped them getting drunk & violent in streets all over Britain ?
Raising the smoking age is just a desperate attempt to try to stem the corrosion of our society. And not surprisingly they imediatley reached for smoking, New Labour & the PC gangs favourite whipping boy!
I know this sounds bad,but the younger you are when you start smoking the easier it is to give it up without help
