Now that the legal minimum age for purchasing tobacco has been raised from 16 to 18, will less young people take up smoking? Should the responsibility fall to retailers, or should it be illegal to smoke at 16? Have your say.
We have the really wierd situation that young people are allowed to smoke up to four years before they are able legally to buy cigs.
This sends out the wrong message to everyone. Either ban it or don't but this half way point we are at now confuses the issue.
The only way to deter teens from starting to smoke is to ban this disgusting harmful out of date habit altogether, some will say what about the tax & other implications, well the world will have to deal. Who in their right mind wants to increase their lungs production of phelgm? Oh wait, smokers do.
I certainly believe, that the legal age of smoking, should be raised...to 18years of age.
"Will raising tobacco legal age, stop young people smoking" -
Such a law,would act as a deterrent.
on-the-spot-fines,for under age smokers, should be legislated to get any positive results.
well i started smoking at 14 and the legal age was 16 so it deff aint gonna stop em if they wanna do it they will find a way i mean does it stop em drinking no
Another unenforcable law,get real.
