Should we all carry taser guns?

Taser parties are a growing trend in the US, where women are being convinced they could easily be victims of violent crime. In many US states tasers are legal and are being touted as the perfect self-defense weapon. Is this just another way of having weapons on the street or do you think we should carry tasers for self-defense in the UK?
