Should smoking at the wheel be illegal?

Should smoking at the wheel be illegal?

Eating, drinking, trying to read maps, inserting a cassette or CD, tuning a radio, arguing with passengers or other road users, playing loud music. These have all played a part in prosecutions against drivers. Now smoking is set to join the list. Should smoking and driving be banned? Is it dangerous or are we taking this all a step too far? Have your say.

Anybody ever been driving down the road and thinking what they might have for tea or where and when their next meeting is or listening to the news on car radio while remembering to indicate and turn at the next junction? Course you have, its called multi-tasking, its what we humans do. If we couldnt multi-task then we wouldnt be able to drive at all. Get real people.

we can clearly see all the smokers here. but if you get done for eating or drinking behind the wheel, then surely smoking falls into the same area. it is still a hand to mouth action and a lit cigarrette is surely more dangerous than an apple.

No more dangerous than picking your nose - scratching your arse - singing along to music - looking in your rear view mirror, what should be banned if any thing is bloody kids in cars they put me off with there constant arguing, how the hell have we managed all these years with out all the do gooders. Give ME MY FREEDOM BACK

Jacqueline my dear there are such things as road traffic signs that inform you of what speed you should be doing on any road, however the road traffic rules rules and good driving skills should be all you need to know what speed you should driving at on any road without staring down at your speedo or needing to fret over whether there's a speed enforcement camera round the next corner, so claiming 'speedo checking' is more dangerous than fag lighting at the wheel is nonsense, both activities are equally dangerous instead just good safe driving practice will ensure you'll get from A to B safely!, but instead we've arrived at the point were the government see it they have to cater for the moron faction so banning is the only method left.
