Eating, drinking, trying to read maps, inserting a cassette or CD, tuning a radio, arguing with passengers or other road users, playing loud music. These have all played a part in prosecutions against drivers. Now smoking is set to join the list. Should smoking and driving be banned? Is it dangerous or are we taking this all a step too far? Have your say.
smoking, NO. Using a mobile phone yes
Does not affect your driving one bit.If your stuck on the motorway because some1 has caused a pile up due to being on the phone? YOU CAN LIGHT A CIG PUT on A TUNE AND CHILL
What planet does Freedom from London live on ??? I have never heard such a load of rubbish in all my life. Your driving ability is not determined if you are a smoker or not..Regardless of if you think it is right or wrong the law in this country has decided that using a mobile phone whilst on the move is illegal.I think that the same ruling should apply to those who smoke whilst driving.Tell me Freedom from London, what do you base your 40 years of observations on,so what ,you have driven a few miles,so have many of us.Did you spent the whole time seeing if they were smoking or not ? I think not. ! I take it that you are one of these perfect drivers. Some years ago,a couple of days just before Christmas a truck driver dropped a cigarette whilst driving in King's Lynn.He veared accross the road and hit the oncoming car.The woman in the other car was killed and he walked away so don't you dare have the audacity to tell me all that rubbish about smokers are better drivers.Tell it to her husband and young children that were left behind just a couple of days before Christmas that year.!!!
J FROM LEEDS. How sensible you are. I and 3 children where car passengers and the driver did exactly just that. Driving around a roundabout he dropped a cigarette end on his lap with the result that while trying to retrieve it he hit another car.
next up, changing gear, or using handbrake,by taking your hands off the wheel.
