Eating, drinking, trying to read maps, inserting a cassette or CD, tuning a radio, arguing with passengers or other road users, playing loud music. These have all played a part in prosecutions against drivers. Now smoking is set to join the list. Should smoking and driving be banned? Is it dangerous or are we taking this all a step too far? Have your say.
to FRITZ whats it like being an utter complete W***ER
I have smoked and driven for 40 years never had an accident because of smoking, its more dangerous having arguments at the wheel and also screaming brats in the back.
YES. Isnt it illegal to eat /drink whilst driving or use your mobile phone (NOT THAT ANYonE TAKES ANY NOTICE OF THIS onE). However, the same should apply to smoking. Your mind isnt on driving if you are craving a fag and trying to lie up.
BUT THERE AGAIN - LETS BLOODY BAN EVERYTHING.
yes i agree half the idiots on the road can,t friggin drive with two hands on the wheel and cctv to the rear, i drive 1000 miles per week never had an accident treat other road users (apart from the ones that cam,t drive) with respect and smoke
You should not be doing anything in a moving vehicle other than driving. There are enough accidents without further distractions such as retrieving a lit cigarette which has fallen on your lap. What about the hot ash out of the window - what about passive smoking in a confined place - what about the litter. It is impossible to have both hands on the wheel if one is holding a cigarette. Anyway, I don't know how people can afford to both smoke and run a car. Don't give the government any more money than you have to.
