Eating, drinking, trying to read maps, inserting a cassette or CD, tuning a radio, arguing with passengers or other road users, playing loud music. These have all played a part in prosecutions against drivers. Now smoking is set to join the list. Should smoking and driving be banned? Is it dangerous or are we taking this all a step too far? Have your say.
LET THEM SMOKE WITH THE WINDOWS CLOSED. KEEP THE CRAP IN THE CAR AND IF THEY THROW THEIR FILTHY CIGARETTE BUTTS OUT OF THE WINDOW, FINE THEM.
So, another freedom of choice is probably going to be taken from us by Nanny Brown and his clowns? If someone chooses to smoke at the wheel, then let them do it. I used to when I smoked and it never put my driving at risk. I have noticed however that most new cars today are no longer fitted with ashtrays as standard; they're now an 'optional extra.' A conspiracy, perchance???
Why - it's been going on for years and if it was the cause of accidents it would have been banned a long time ago. The ban which should be imposed is the ability of governments to raise taxes on something which they obviosly disapprove of - damn hypocrites.
All a step too far. I gave up smoking 15 years ago, even when I smoked I ididn't do so when I was driving. THAT WAS MY CHOICE. And that's how it should remain. Our individual rights are gradually being eroded by the same government who brought human rights in to protect the perpertrator and not the victim. They could never enforce it anyway. How many prosecutions have there been for people using a mobile phone?? It's completely farcical.
BLOODY WALK THEN ' ME FROM uk '.
