Eating, drinking, trying to read maps, inserting a cassette or CD, tuning a radio, arguing with passengers or other road users, playing loud music. These have all played a part in prosecutions against drivers. Now smoking is set to join the list. Should smoking and driving be banned? Is it dangerous or are we taking this all a step too far? Have your say.
we keep whinging about all this something should be done its up to the people to do it after all we keep voting all the idiots in power
Just bans smoking and be done with it!
Anything which might cause distraction should be banned whilst driving for obvious reasons, just pull over and smoke.
I don't see a problem with smoking in cars as long as there's no-one else inside.
Personally, I find it far more distracting to use the standard radio that is fitted in all cars. I've driven 10 years and always smoked whilst driving - never a problem. Perhaps they should ban driving altogether or put only the essential controls within the car ?
For us smokers having a fag is as much second nature as using the indicators. If people are that easily distracted they shouldn't be driving in the first place!
Whatever your views, the government say they have no plans to ban smoking at the wheel, (at least not yet)
