Debbie Purdy, who suffers from Multiple Sclerosis, would like her husband to help her to die when her condition becomes unbearable and has launched a landmark case in the high court seeking the right to travel to Switzerland to die in comfort.
Purdy’s barrister claims that although many terminally ill British patients travel to Switzerland to die, no family members have faced criminal charges for assisted suicide on their return. Do you think that this ‘blind eye’ approach is acceptable for the British legal system? Should the terminally ill be given the right to die if they so wish? Share your thoughts.
Having nursed my father when18years old til his death, I would like to think that if I were to suffer as he did, that I would be able to choose to put an end to the suffering. Pretty much ,I add as you would a beloved pet, we don't let them suffer like some people have to with the present laws.
I think it is there(my) own choice. The people who say oh there wasting there life are those who have never suffered those who have no idea or experience in the life of a depressed person, that irritates me, and at the moment i meet alot of people like that every day.
My decision is mine. If I want to die and I do surely ending my life in a safe and calm way should be the way. Nobody has the right to deny me a dignified end. Depression usually ?
I do not want to live. End of story. My depression is making too many people suffer. My Will is in order. I owe nothing. Why should I not decide my own fate. Who has the right to deny me what I want ?
