Are the police a law unto themselves?
A self-employed plumber who photographed a police van reversing the wrong way up a one-way street to the chip shop was held for five hours for allegedly being drunk, resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer with his camera.
The man had to give DNA samples and had his fingerprints taken. Do you think that police officers believe they are above the law? Have we given our law enforcers too many powers, to the detriment of our own rights?Your comments

Having recently been caught speeding on my bike, I was treated like dirt at the sceane. I was cautioned, my keys were removed from the bike and now I am due in court because I was silly, I down 109mph whilst the Unmarked police bike sat behind me with his headlight on full beam. If only I stopped and just faced up to the fact I might have been robbed instead. Gonna lose my lisence yet when i read the statement of teh police office on teh unmarked bike, its full of lies just to secure the conviction. I am guilty of speeding but why lie. Yes they are above it and they know it. When i lose my liscence I will lose my job. The police officer will still be out doing his bit and still be out getting away with all his lies. Oh how I love the uk (NOT)

over the last two weeks, I have witnessed: a people carrier, a volkswagen estateand various large vauxhalls, all charging down motorways with blues and two`s going!! What`s that all about then? why do they have to be so sneaky? is it because the cash cow camera`s are not pulling in enough money? Oi, Plod!! just paint em blue and yellow and drive up and down the motorway like you used to. The stupid 70mph limit was brought in when motorways were first made, when cars were maxed out at 60mph, and brakes were all shoes. And the "if it saves one life" brigade should shut up and get a life. Oh yes, if you`re travelling along a motorway or duel carrieageway, and get overtaken by a truck YOU ARE DRIVING TOO SLOWLY!! How about nicking these pillochs plod?

Ditch the helicopters....reduce the amount of cars, get the police out on the streets ... they can eat their chips as they walk around !!

Most of the Police in this country are the salt of the earth.
Unfortunately,there are Politicians,Senior civil servants(mandarins) and chief constables who dont have a clue what they are doing and mess things up for the police on the beat.We are charged millions of pounds to run the service to 'protect' individuals and property but in effect they acheive very little.Its very nice to have a soft approach to some areas of crime 'unruly behavior' etc.,but they just laugh when the officers depart.We need politicians and the Home office to give the polive unrestricted powers to come down hard on offenders.If they are breaking the law,can 'em.Are the police a law unto themselves?No -

THE POLICE HAVE FORGOTTEN THAT THEY ARE PUBLIC SERVENTS, OUR TAXES PAYS FOR THEM, onE CALLED ME MATE AFTER PULLING ME OVER FRO A ROUTINE CHECK, I TOLD HIM IN NO CERTAIN TERMS THAT I WASN'T HIS MATE AND DEMANDED HE CALL ME SIR, WHICH HE SHEEPISHLY DID.
