Southwark Cathedral ban Jerusalem hymn

Senior clergy at Southwark Cathedral in London say that the hymn Jerusalem is "not to the glory of God" and have banned its use from most services. What do you think of this action?

Whatever next? Not to the glory of god? Read the words and think of the bloody context. Going through all the pages on this topic 99% vote no. The ones who voted yes....look at the names to get an idea of the ethnic origin of some of them and then decide whether there is religious freedom in this country. If they don't like our religion go to where their own religion is predominent and then they can critcise christianity as much as they like there. Islam..the religion of peace..I don't think so.

evangelical channels are very funny to watch it's incredible what people will tolerate you just give them money because they say they are praying for you and not small amounts but millions

They have to control themselves from smirking not only can they not read (their own scriptures) which this hymn is inspired from (Habbakuk) but they believe ANYTHING that Rory and Wendy tell them too.

To Mick Lee - how nice to read an educated post among the thickos who think its been banned so as not to upset foreigners.

i am a foreigner myself (german) and am amazed at the amount of english born people on here who cannot understand written english.

german is my first language and even i can understand the thread that says jerusalem is banned because it is not to the glory of god.

how anyone whose first language is english can interpret that as due to pc or upsetting foreigners is beyond belief. as if muslims or hindus know or care what is sung in a christian church.

go back to school, please, and learn to read your native language

I am sure like all the other religious lunatics God personally told them he did not like it.

Yes down he came from on high chapped on there door and gave them a right good talking to about it.

After that they promised him they would never sing that song again.

However God being of devious mind and driven by his Old Testament thinking went out and spoke to a few people who did not feel the same way as he did.

Don’t worry he said I don’t really mind what songs you all sing after all in the new testament I am a caring and loving God.

Well what would you know one of the people he visited decided to write a book about his experience and tell everyone God visited upon him and gave him some good advice…..?

He went to America and started an evangelical chat channel which proved to be a good money spinner for him and he made several hundred million dollars preaching to people about his meeting with God.

In the end people were still singing Jerusalem.

After all a song is just a song.

They are leering because they are in charge and you aren't.

Funny thing happen to me today.

I walk down the street right and this time there 3 people in uniforms from an agency not law enforcement but one that everyone knows, well these three young men were very strange in their behaviour.

because they have a uniform on right one guy was walking in a straight line to one side and he deliberately crossed into my path to loom over me before standing aside before I walked into him

    That is dominant behaviour.

A similar thing happen to me when I spproached a dog once. It started it's routine og growling and so on and I walked past it - the point being that neither man nor dog has any right to interfere with me as I attend my own entirely legitimate business.

However many cannot resist the temptation to appear superior and impress themselves upon you.

Those people I see once pass for but a moment in the street and never see again - they are in fact of no significance to me even if they consider themselves important.
