Is the Post Office doomed?

Is the Post Office doomed?

As many as 2,500 community Post Offices are set to close across the country, and the figure could rise to 6,500. Do you think the stamp of death for one of Britain’s best-loved institutions is drawing ever nearer? What, if anything, can be done to get the Post Office sorted?

P.O closures along with a string of other issues(2 weeklybin collections,Bus route limitations,DRiving with headlights in daytime)to name but a few are all EU directives and cannot be challenged
If the Lisbon Treaty goes thru and all the signs are that it will be forced on to all EU member countries despite the Irish !NO! vote( No other EU member countries including the U.K had the opportunity of a referendum) the uk will be run from Brussells,Westminster will end up with about as much power as your average Town council
Brussells says jump Westminster says How High?

EU directives have nearly destroyed our post office services. Google it and find out for yourselves. They have forced us to splinter the service into little bits. Profitable areas have been taken from the Post Office. It's a shambles. The British Royal Mail was a wonderful service. It deserved subsidy and was once more efficient than it is now. Little post offices are vital to elderly people and small communities. I abhor all the closures.

Unfortunately, everything now has a price. Even public services are now fair game. The current labour government no longer see the need in this greedy society of ours to supply a much needed public service, government is no longer FOR THE PEOPLE, but done TO THE PEOPLE, by peole who we elect (or not as the case may be ). They are no longer the caretakers, just the takers. Give Royal Mail a fairer mandate, i.e. don't let private enterprise "cherry pick" the easiest portions of the work. If they want to do the job they should have to accept the non-profit making deliveries as well. (Rural areas and far flung islands ). Post Offices are still a neccessary local resource. Leave them alone!!!!

we all desperately need local public post offices no matter our status in life as at some point we all use them one way or the other. for these and many, many other reasons the post office is sorely needed
