As many as 2,500 community Post Offices are set to close across the country, and the figure could rise to 6,500. Do you think the stamp of death for one of Britain’s best-loved institutions is drawing ever nearer? What, if anything, can be done to get the Post Office sorted?
New: Save our Post Offices special
I agree with Duncan from Kent. We need the post offices, and sub post offices. My main one closed, and the local sub post office is threatened with closure! If closed that would mean a long walk to W.H.Smith in the high street! Much too far for elderly and less able bodied folk!
Next they will get rid of postmen/women and want us all to collect our post directly from the sorting office!
I can remember the days when a letter posted in the same postal area was delivered the same day!
Now it takes anything up to a week for a first class item to be delivered!
I think the closure of POST OFFICES is a shame and should not happen, however THE POSTMAN/WOMEN are a different breed PRIVATISE IT! they are a waste of space,if we are lucky we get an afternoon delivery, and most of that has been TAMPERED with!.
Services have declined over the last 10 years - very sad.
The Post Office is the central part of most communities. Small town and villages are losing their charm and character as it is, lose the Post Office and it will kill off most villages. Then no one will want to live there. It'll be an area for commuters to sleep. I know, it has happened to the village I live in and is happening to the village I was brought up in. Lets keep our Post Office's, which will cut green-house gasses and keep our small communities!
Hi
I lost my job at my local post office due to changes in benefit payment, I still think we should have post offices to stop large supermarkets taking over.
They offer a more freindly place for poeple to get help with payments etc.
