New research suggests that passive smoking makes children more vulnerable to serious infections that lead to diseases such as meningitis. There is also evidence that nine out of 10 cases of cot death could be linked to mothers who smoked during pregnancy. So is it time to ban smoking in the home for the sake of our children's health?

A smoker from so there, unfortunately not a lot of people in this country are able to show that they have common sense therefore the people who do smoke around children are the ones to blame not the people who would like to see the ban put into force.
M from S you are quite right when drink becomes a danger to others (especially children) it should be made illegal - oh hold on drunk and disorderly/drunk in charge of a child, I do believe that they are already against the law.

Yes I am very serious. What will it be next, BAN drinking at HOME...
We are very lucky in having FREEDOM of choice. I like to smoke, I understand the Health problems but that is my choice.
Drinkers cause many problems every Friday and Saturday night, why don't you go and BAN them, along with all the PUBS,CLUBS and OFF LICENCE's.
But Hannah, what if that person has no children? Why should somebody stop doing something in thier own homes, just because some think it is wrong?
I don't have children, i smoke in my house, i paid for my house, i bought everything in my house! and IF and when i have children i will stop smoking, that will be MY choice not yours.
thank you
