New research suggests that passive smoking makes children more vulnerable to serious infections that lead to diseases such as meningitis. There is also evidence that nine out of 10 cases of cot death could be linked to mothers who smoked during pregnancy. So is it time to ban smoking in the home for the sake of our children's health?

But what about all those that have lived to a ripe old age who did smoke?
YOU CAN NOT BAN PEOPLE SMOKING IN THEIR OWN HOMES, YOU SIMPLY CAN NOT.
That persons house, that persons choice!
stop acting and thinking like you can decide for folk what they can and can not do in their own homes.
cl-those who have lived for a good old age are the taxpayers who though they,re toil and buying power are the taxpayers who have kept the country going ,thereby allowing addicts whose self indulgent and health destroying habits are the ones who are costing us all.
If you want to smoke then that's your decision but it doesn't mean you should pass on the effects to others in the House and endangering their Health.
Nico - Then we would have the trouble of people living to long and putting pressure on the tax payer with pensions, hospital care (non smoking related old people troubles) etc.
cl-the gov would save a fortune in hosp. costs and cancer treaments if all tobbacco products were banned from sale.
