Under-14s should not be held responsible for their actions and should never be locked up in children’s homes or young offender institutions, according to The Prison Reform Trust. Their report calls for the criminal responsibility age to be raised from 10 to 14, claiming incarceration doesn't deter under-14s, since 75% of them reoffend within a year of release. Do you agree?

Raise the age of criminal responsibililty!!! Big mistake - it should be lowered to at least 8.
Debbie from Sussex, i totally agree with you, everyone thinks that if your a single parent your a bad parent, totally untrue, i am married and have two children, but it's me who does all the disciplining in our house, when my son was about 14 he started pushing his boundaries, and i have spent the past 4 years keeping him on the straight and narrow, which is no mean feat, he's now 18 and realises that if it wasn't for me he really dosen't know where he would be, the problem these days is that as soon as your child goes out of the door, you have no control over what they are doing, and most things go in one ear and out of the other, you just have to hope that all the values you have instilled in them will come to the fore and make them think before they do wrong.
the age should be lowered.. 8 year old kids know when they are doing wrong..and as such should be punished..
I agree with ? from ?, I think the age should be lowered, we've got 8 and 9 year olds around this estate, that need locking away for their edification, they should lock up some of the parents too.
this is why they reoffend THEY know they get away with it,,they just laugh NO MATTER WHAT AGE punishment big time pherhaps us decent folks could live a better life ...
