Students starting secondary school this week will be legally obliged to attend until they are 17, under new legislation.
Do you think that this is a good idea? How old were you when you left school? Join the debate.no they shouldn't.....IT'S TORTURE!
How typically tyranical by a failing government to drop this one in before they get kicked out. Why should non academic kids suffer a further year of torture when they could start an apprenticeship and earn money!
i think they should do their GCSE's at the age of 16 and then stay on at school to do A Levels if they chose to do so and for the ones who choose not to do A Levels then they should bring in apprenticeships what are taught between school, college and a work placement. If they choose to do none and just leave to do nothing and then they should get no benefits entitlement till they are at least 21 or have been working for at least 3 years. They haven't paid into the system so they don't deserve anything.
17? no it should be 18 by which time they might have actually learned enough to pass a real GCSE. Everyone knows they have been so devalued they are not worth the paper their written on.
I think kids should leave school as we did at 14 years and have an apprenticeship to a trade. this is what Britian is short of.
As I got older I set up on my own, as a trades person in the building industry and have been very happy and successful
I went to the building College for 4 years and got my City & Guilds.
Staying on at school for some is a waste of time and stops other children learning.and it get them knocked into shape.O.A.P. 78years.

Should pupils have to stay in school until 17?
