Should council workers be snooping in our gardens?

Council officers in Lancashire have been assigned to snoop in residents’ back gardens, looking at how many wheelie bins they have, and taking away any ‘unauthorised’ refuse containers.

Officers were seen propping ladders against garden fences to peer into residents’ gardens. Do you think this is going too far? Share your thoughts.

Where I live they have recentley brought in new rules about what you can and can't put in your bins. We now get our bin bags delivered yearly instead of weekly and they are a different colour to the bin bags you can buy in the supermarket so they stand out against the other bags. The council have also put a limit on how many bags you can put out each week. I think this is ridiculous, it might be ok for people who live on there own to put one bin bag out every week but I've got four kids - what am I supposed to do? I've now got three bins in my back yard, one for rubbish, one for paper and one for glass. It's a waste of time, my kids just put all rubbish in the bin anyway, and there's no way I'm going to root around in the rubbish to pick out the glass and paper! At the end of the day I just leave all my bin bags at the end of the alley way at the back of my house and so do most of my neighbours. So there's no way the council can ever find out who is throwing what away. It serves them right for being so bleeding fussy!

George, I have been a bin man for 15 years and I have emptied thousands of peoples garbage. Most of them don't use bin bags and they get ripped going into the crusher anyway. What do you want us to do? Work with blindfolds so that we can't see your sex toys and books or know what sordid little insular lives you lead? I suggest you get rid of your own rubbish then

    James from garbage disposer.
I would suppose from the tone of your contribution that you would probably know quite a bit about rummaging around other peoples property after dark.
I suggest that you are not a garbage disposer, but rather garbage to be disposed of.
