Should council workers be snooping in our gardens?

Council officers in Lancashire have been assigned to snoop in residents’ back gardens, looking at how many wheelie bins they have, and taking away any ‘unauthorised’ refuse containers.

Officers were seen propping ladders against garden fences to peer into residents’ gardens. Do you think this is going too far? Share your thoughts.

I wish the wardens would do something like that around here, it’s a pigs sty around here.
We have many greens all with litter, fridge’s, settee’s and you name it.
Around 80% of the front gardens are un kept jungles mixed with litter that blown in.
I do think the wardens were a bit severe with you, I expect they are a bit jaded dealing with much worse people, not that that excuses them though. What is your area like as a whole?
I am always picking up rubbish from outside of my house, I wish others would as well.

I had a note through my door last winter to tell me to remove 4 plastic bottles that had blown on my front garden while I was at work. It was from my neighbourhood warden (employed bythe council) who in the time spent writing the note could have put them in the street bin about 2 metres away. When I rang him to discuss it and explain that it wasn't my rubbish and I didn't like it being there any more than he did he totally missed the point and advised me to crush bottles before putting them in the re-cycling. The worst part is that 3 months later he left a message on my answer phone telling me to ring him or face legal action. When I rang him in shock he said he found my number on his desk and couldn't remember what it was for and the only way to get people to ring him was to say he'd take them to court if they didn't call back. My taxes are paying for this?
