Should well-behaved council tenants be rewarded with £50k?

Council tenants who keep up five years of 'good behaviour' should be rewarded with £50,000 to go towards buying their first home, according to a new Tory proposal.

Do you think this would be an effective incentive to keep anti-social behaviour down? Or do you think it would be too much carrot and not enough stick? Have your say.

    The government always step in to help those with mortgages but there is never anything for struggling tenants dealing with spiraling rents and other bills. I would dearly love to own my own home but just cannot afford it. I work but everything I bring home goes to pay bills and buy food.
    Just because you own your own property it does not make you 'more responsible' JOHN FROM HAMPSHIRE-look at all the so called responsible members of socieity who are running around like headless chickens because the rise in mortgages and interest rates. People who have mortgages and 2.4 children are so bloody smug! Not everyone in social housing have their hands out for the dole and benefits and have ten kids running around! Some of us work bloody hard to put food on the table the same as you do. Smug git.

    fantastic idea and what moreron dreamt this and who pays for it maybe i could be the 1st to get this for having the most obnoctious neibours the most destructive and the most over sea's living near me then i would agree this country needs to get a grip before we end up the poverty capital of the world my views are to get rid of the idiots who run us and get a combined force in who are of this planet and not high earners who dnt give 2 monkeys as they are well off enough to survive

    They should get a right to buy, but good behaviour should cost nothing . good behaviour should be put into the rent agreement when signing to rent a property and anyone breaking this should be evicted. This is like rewarding the bad to be good but saying that not all council tenants are bad, maybe the council should invest this money in more jobs and the people in council properties will be able to afford to buy in a better area leaving the council properties for the people that should be living in them poor families...........
