Council tenants who keep up five years of 'good behaviour' should be rewarded with £50,000 to go towards buying their first home, according to a new Tory proposal.
Do you think this would be an effective incentive to keep anti-social behaviour down? Or do you think it would be too much carrot and not enough stick? Have your say.
I am assuming this is a wind up - if not then it has certainly convinced me that the time has come to go live abroad. Fortunately I can afford to do so - it seems that political parties are only concerned with bribing the voters rather than running the country as it should be. It's a case of look after oneself because nobody else is bothered about doing so.
As I have already stated, I do not agree with this idea HOWEVER, would anyone (honestly) turn down £50K if it was handed to them on a plate, whether you are a council tenant or home owner. I think the answer would be no. If us home owners were given the same scenario, I wonder how many council tenants would be up in arms about it?!! Food for thought!!!
NO! We all should be on our best behaviour at all times no matter what!
This is a wind up by the Tories surely?
I live in Mansfield, live in a council house not by choice but because of having to move because of various regenartion schemes and in and out of work and if you are a decent tenant you are sh*t upon by the council but if you are a drug dealing tenant or a nuisance you get everything going. There are people in Mansfield that have been to work or still at work that still cannot afford to buy their homes because most of their earnings are devoured by rents and rates and then have to subsidise the workshy scrounging yobbos that the towns council bends over backwards for. It's true, Mansfield has an Independent, no lets be honest here, Tory council already and it is a disaster.
Rebecca maybe Mansfields Golden Girl but Mansfield is a Tin Pot Town ruled by Yobbos.
Get real, it would cost the goverment way to much money and what do you actually class as good behavior, what happens if your in any sort of rent arrears, does that class you as a troublemaker, i signed on the dole 2 months ago and i was in no rent arrears at all, thanks to a cock up at the dole and the waste of space council tax office im now £180 in arrears through no fault of my own, do you really think this will work, i dont think so.
My local offices are not arsed how long it takes to sort out my claims but as soon as i owe them money there on my case every other day,
I have received 2 seeking possession orders in 2 months and the cheeky b*****ds had the front to say i had not been paying my rent, i have receipts to prove otherwise and have told my local council that the next time i receive one i will be taking them to court and sueing the balls of them for harrasment.
Oh by the way, 50k would be nice though.lol

Should well-behaved council tenants be rewarded with £50k?
