Council tenants who keep up five years of 'good behaviour' should be rewarded with £50,000 to go towards buying their first home, according to a new Tory proposal.
Do you think this would be an effective incentive to keep anti-social behaviour down? Or do you think it would be too much carrot and not enough stick? Have your say.
There are badly behaved families in private estates as well. Should they get 50K to put up with this as well. Where will the money come from. Us heavily tax people AGAIN. This country has gone to the dogs. NO PARTY IS WORTH A CARROT
NO! Good behaviour comes from self respect, self esteem, respect for others, etc etc. Who do you think will be paying this 'reward' the taxpayer of course! we home owners have struggled to scrimp & save to provide a better standard of living for our families,& a lot of single parents are doing the same, what do we get, nothing! except to be taxed up to the eyeballs from a single minded nonentity of a government run by a non elected PM who piled tax upon tax on the taxpayer,& who bleats about how we cannot afford this & that yet give away billions in 'foreign aid'.Self respect & pride in one's achievements is worth more than a 'reward' It just shows that the Tories have just as many lamebrains in their party as do the 'New Labour(LOL) & so this country will never regain its standing in the world whichever party is in power.
This is laughable! I would love 50k just handed to me on a plate for behaving as I should be anyway. sadly, I have to find a grand a month to pay my own mortgage.
NO,council tenants get it easy ,if something breaks in their house its fixed for free,if they fall behind in their rent, they get asked how much they can pay back.what about help for people buying their homes,we dont get things doen for free a lot of us scrimp and save to make sure our children have something left to them in the future.
I was brought up on a council estate in the east end. With £50K now you would still get change for the whole area.

Should well-behaved council tenants be rewarded with £50k?
