Should well-behaved council tenants be rewarded with £50k?

Council tenants who keep up five years of 'good behaviour' should be rewarded with £50,000 to go towards buying their first home, according to a new Tory proposal.

Do you think this would be an effective incentive to keep anti-social behaviour down? Or do you think it would be too much carrot and not enough stick? Have your say.

We all have choices to make about where we live, The benefits of living in council accomodation is that you dont have to worry about maintaining the property, so if we as private owners behave well, pay our own taxes, maintain our properties so that the council can increase our taxes because we have increased value to our property, we should therefore qualify for a bigger hand out. £50K would go along way to repaying all the years we have paid into the council coffers with no discount, or help with maintaining our properties, yes we pay via council taxes to employ those that monitor building works, but we then have to pay again for them to pass our plans etc. Council tenants do not need to bother with this process as the council does it all for them. So if Councils want to hand out OUR money give it to those that have paid into the pot without a break for years.

No, Council Tenants should not recieve money to buy their first house. If they live in a council house they have the right to buy and get a discount anyway. I rent privayely because I would have to wait to long to get a council house, do I get money to buy my first house as well????

Not Really - No. What Council Tennants get 50k, for what exactly? Doing the same as the rest of us? Looking after our homes? Well if they Cant Look After their Homes, then maybe they shouldnt be allowed to live in them, after all there not theres in the first place. Its Ridiculas, Bribes to try and change people to look after their homes, Nonsense.
