Council tenants who keep up five years of 'good behaviour' should be rewarded with £50,000 to go towards buying their first home, according to a new Tory proposal.
Do you think this would be an effective incentive to keep anti-social behaviour down? Or do you think it would be too much carrot and not enough stick? Have your say.
ayesha sound like scum to me get a better paid job then.
i think what was said by a from b was right about ayesha. sorry about your loss but why do you deserve a handout eh.get another job.is it cause i is black.
I am so incensed I could just write expletives.
The answer is NO.
What is going on in this country??????
Why should the rest of us pay mortgages, house maintenace, insurances etc etc etc and not be recognised???
To whoever that tw*t is that said they are renting and can't afford a mortgage.....you are both "skilled" people, earning good money, if you can rent, you can afford a mortgage. You greedy f%%kers, just want money for old rope. For which I can put to better use, the rope, that is.
What a load of Balls!!
First the Tory government made it compulsary to sell of Councill property to tenents at a reduced price then when they cannot house people, they have to pay to keep them in hotels and hostels at inflated prices and by law any immigrants arriving have to be accommodated as well, are they also going to qualify for this baaksheesh.
This period of recession should enable the government to build subsidised housing for local councils, -- but by law -- not able to be sold off under market price for at least 20 years
Just because some of us don't think Council tennants should be given 50 grand for simply being 'good' doesn't mean we're jealous.
I did a 16 hour shift today without a break (10p an hour above minimum wage) so that I could pay the mortgage on the home that my kids live in - a mortgage I spent 2 years doing 3 totally cr@p jobs over 7 days a days a week to raise the deposit.
My 'straight A' kids have started another year at their inner city schools and will probably do the same as last year - register 'no absences' 'no lates' 'no poor behaviour'
Jealous? I'm just wondering what qualifies for 'well-behaved'? Why some should be selected to be given this cash and not others? Why should Council tennants be more deserving than the rest of us?
