Where's the best place to live in the UK?

Location, Location, Location recently crowned Edinburgh as the best place to live in the UK. Do you agree? Where do you think the best place to live in the UK is? Have your say...

stuart from plymouth - do you really go round asking strangers if their english roots go back at least 5 generations? are you a known as a bit of a wierdo in your street? or just another sad racist?

I admit that I haven't been to a lot of places in Britain, but the way I see it, there'll always be similar pros and cons. Most places have something 'nice' about them that people like (cities for shopping, villages for peace & quiet, that sort of thing), but they'll have bad points too, like teens hanging around on streets and such.
So, I'd say that it would depend entirely on who you were asking. Different people, different opinions.

i love my little piece of england, freedom from veils, oppressive males, unknown languages and hatred, but... these things are all on my doorstep, they are breeding and will eventually destroy it all. we are witnesses to the end of us.

Any place in the uk that does not have immigrants, where you do not see people in totally non British clothing gibbering in a non native tongue. This perffect place must have the best of old fashioned British manners as well like saying please, thankyou, excuse me, keeping your feet off the seat of public transport little things like that. Unfortunately though i'm afraid such a place does not now exist in Labours modern Britain?
