Banksy: art or vandalism?

As works by guerilla artist Banksy fetch tens of thousands under the hammer at a Shoreditch gallery, we look at some of his famous daubings and ask: is it art?

I quite like the guy,s efforts, good art should ask questions, provoke thought and debate amongst those who look at it,inspire too and whilst I tend to appreciate more traditional art than contemporary/modern I still think this chap is worth looking at in some depth.

First off well done for the very intellegent point from crossy, big round of applause, banksy is an artist but not in the traditional sense he is a man of his times and a very intellegent and thought out person. His works are meant to incourage controversy in the sheer subject matter and placing of them, thats the whole point. And any larger works he does apply for permission from local councils and therefore cannot be seen as vandalism. Im sure most councils would be proud to have a piece of a world famous artist work in the city! But then again I like graffitti artists work it takes a lot of talent and thought to produce pieces of work, and would it really work as well in a gallery??!
