Did the right person win The Apprentice?

Did the right person win The Apprentice?

So after 12 weeks of bitching, brawling, bartering and back-stabbing, the winner of The Apprentice 2009 is Yasmina. But did the right person win?

Well Kate-fans will probably poke me in the nose for saying so, but yes. So great was she as a leader that James felt compelled to pipe-up in the final boardroom, just to warn Sir Alan not to let her slip through his fingers (not that much could slide past those chubby little digits).

And based on the final task (which was ace by the way): even though Kate’s presentation was much better than Yasmina’s giddy performance, her chocolates were much more exciting and enticing than Kate’s, which actually resembled a box of tampons.

And their chocolates kind of summed them up as people: Yasmina’s a feisty risk-taker while Kate is great and lovely but perhaps a bit too safe and sterile. Anyway… congratulations Yasmina – enjoy the £100,000 a year.

And so The Apprentice is over for another year. But what valuable lessons have we learnt?

Lesson 1: If you’ve got a massive head and you sing stupid songs about pants, you’re probably a div.

Lesson 2: If you repeat the same boastful twaddle about places at Sandhurst or supernatural business instincts over and over again, you’re probably a div and you’ll probably get fired.

Lesson 3: If you mess with Debra, she’ll chew you up and spit you out like a strawberry and basil chocolate.

Lesson 4: If you lark about in birthing pools and say funny stuff all the time, you probably won’t get hired by Sir Alan Sugar but you probably are a legend and everyone will like you.

And Lesson 5: The Apprentice is still amazing.

Absolutely the right person won. I have to be honest, I was neither a big Yasmina or Kate fan in the beginning, but Yasminia won me over too at the end.
She was more business focused and as James said a 'risk taker', which Kate was not as the final task proved without a doubt and as we all know, Sir A loves a risk taker.
Kate is a very bright girl and is going to do well in the future, let's not take anything away from her, but I think she thought she had it in the bag especailly when Sir A said her chocolates were fantastic and the others awful. She was grinning like a cheshire cat however, as Sir A said the 'awful' chocolates can be tweaked later what was important was the cost, box and presentation.
It does not matter that Yasmina has her own business, I think she has done bloody good to do what she has done at her age and anyway, she has family who can look after the business for her.
Sir A chose the right person out of the two, commiserations Kate and well done Yasmina. Oh and by the way, Yasmina your new haircut was a massive improvement and looked great.
on a final note, James you may not have won, but never loose your sense of humour, you made us laugh every week.

Obviously he must know his own business but how can a guy pick what appears to be an average candidate over someone who has displayed a number of successful skills. Yasmina did not appear credible. Runs a successful business yet knows nothing about profits and margins when pressed. Unable to create edible product. Look at her attempts when she was "Chef" what did that say about quality, product knowledge, etc in her own field? I would have picked Kate over Yasmina any day of the week. However as I said Sir Alan knows his own business and obviously saw some potential in her that I did not see whilst watching her on television. He had three credible candidates in the semis and I still think that she was the least credible of all three.
