Did the right person win The Apprentice?

Did the right person win The Apprentice?

So after 12 weeks of bitching, brawling, bartering and back-stabbing, the winner of The Apprentice 2009 is Yasmina. But did the right person win?

Well Kate-fans will probably poke me in the nose for saying so, but yes. So great was she as a leader that James felt compelled to pipe-up in the final boardroom, just to warn Sir Alan not to let her slip through his fingers (not that much could slide past those chubby little digits).

And based on the final task (which was ace by the way): even though Kate’s presentation was much better than Yasmina’s giddy performance, her chocolates were much more exciting and enticing than Kate’s, which actually resembled a box of tampons.

And their chocolates kind of summed them up as people: Yasmina’s a feisty risk-taker while Kate is great and lovely but perhaps a bit too safe and sterile. Anyway… congratulations Yasmina – enjoy the £100,000 a year.

And so The Apprentice is over for another year. But what valuable lessons have we learnt?

Lesson 1: If you’ve got a massive head and you sing stupid songs about pants, you’re probably a div.

Lesson 2: If you repeat the same boastful twaddle about places at Sandhurst or supernatural business instincts over and over again, you’re probably a div and you’ll probably get fired.

Lesson 3: If you mess with Debra, she’ll chew you up and spit you out like a strawberry and basil chocolate.

Lesson 4: If you lark about in birthing pools and say funny stuff all the time, you probably won’t get hired by Sir Alan Sugar but you probably are a legend and everyone will like you.

And Lesson 5: The Apprentice is still amazing.

I thought Kate would win. She had excellent people skills and very grounded and calm personality. Alan said she was tooo perfec. That does not make sense to me. Yasmina ran her business with her brother and had financial help from her mum. Yasmin did not know the difference between net and gross. Im baffled

Yes if people think that Alans going to waste Yasmina in a corner of business that doesnt matter you might want to reconsider how genuine you think the show is? alan sugar doesnt throw a contest, and he certainly doesnt waste £100,000 a yr on someone thats simply been hired to add a spin to a shows conclusion! The Apprentice isnt about finding a director for a board or running one of his chains....shes going to be doing a million different things at once in a few months and Yasminas energy and focus prob got her the edge over kates...."unflappability"

Alan Sugar did not get where he is today by making mistakes so definitely he made the right choice. Yasmina seems to have started life in exactly the same mode as Sir Alan, i.e. putting together a good business but still wanting to go further in life. Good luck to her she will succeed.

Anonymous, yeh maybe Kate was punished a bit for the unflappable factor but i also think she cud be held up against what alan criticised james for being...he was too corporate a man to cope with alans setup. she had a career plan that wasnt necessarily what The Apprentice - a learning role and why Yasmina is sent to where she is- entails and she also didnt have a risk instinct anywhere near as competent as Yasminas. Yasmina wasnt anywhere near as good as Kate at presentation etc bt how much value do u place on Face as opposed to balls? Yasmina had em in bucketloads! and over a lifetime ill think she'll risk more, but ultimately earn more than kate...and thats business!
