This week Dot Cotton, aka June Brown acts up a storm in a 30 minute monologue in EastEnders. Yep, just Dot and a camera. Which soap performances have made you sit up and take notice? Tell us your favourites here.
What on earth were the script writers thinking of when they sat down and produced the June Brown monologue? This was dire to watch and left me thinking if this is what Eastenders is about then you can keep it. No disrespect to June brown, a very fine actress, but this is not what Eastenders is about.
The best soap act I have seen Is when it fell in the bath this morning
I love June Brown and I rarely miss an Eastender episode. But, I have to say that I found it difficult to stay focused on this episode. That's not to take away from June's portayal of Dot, I know this was well acted and she is an amazing actress. It's just that I like Eastenders for the character interactions and all the story lines. I have been watching it since near the start and I know that it can sometimes be stuck in a rut. But it's a habit to watch now and I enjoy it. Monologues are not the best idea for a soap.
June Brown was absolutely brilliant in her one woman Eastenders
episode last week. I was a bit dubious ching it but I am so glad I did. Catch it on demand if you havent seen it.
