Was Suzanne the right choice?

Was Suzanne the right choice?

What did you think of this year's show? Did it live up to the hype and was Suzanne Shaw a worthy winner in the end or was fellow finalist Chris Fountain robbed? How does Dancing On Ice rank as a reality TV show? Better than Strictly Come Dancing and X Factor?

I could watch Suzanne all evening. She is elegant and fun. Well done Suzanne - perhaps you should take this up for a living!!!

Ice skating encompasses many disciplines, and is as much about artistic presentation, and interpretation, as it is about the skill of skating itself. Suzanne showed us all that she had mastered everything that was required of her, to make her performance trully inspirational, and beautiful to watch. This was born out by the fact that the judges, like me, were emotionally blown away by a performance that was breathtaking in its magnificence

I also think that suzanne had a better partner, he performed better, making her look better. Chris's partner, although obvioulsy very talented, didnt really make him shine, she was often very hard faced looking. Of course in all these dancing competitions it is always harder for the guys as they have to do most the work, look at Lynda, she only stopped in aslong as she did because she got spun round every week which always looks impressive, but shows little talent. Where for the celeb guy to have to spin his partner around, and to skate also is a lot harder, would you trust someone who been skating for a few weeks to spin you round in the head banger like suzannes experienced partner did?

I think both finalists were very evenly matched, although Chris had Skating experience, it was using Ice Hockey skates, which are totally different, but probably did help with his confidence, however he did still have to learn to dance, something that suzanne had a lot of experience, she was a proffesionally trained dancer, even before her pop stardom. However I did feel the final was slightly flawed, although very nice to watch, the "Flying" part didnt really show how the skaters had improved over the weeks, and in fact had little skating skill in it, suzanne hardly touched the ice during it, where chris did quite a bit, which i thought was what they were judging it on. Really to me the flying should have been part of another week not the final. Suzannes, repeat dance was definanlty better than chris's but the Bolero chris beat her on, I think had they had to do non flying dances before being judged Chris could have won it, but like I say it was a very close run thing, with both having previous skills helping them both become finalists.

Suzanne deserved to win based on her 1st 2 dances but I think Chris did a better Bolero.
