Looking back a few years when we drove back from Germany we had our two teenage daughters with us as we stopped to fill up at the last BP garage before entering Holland at the place the locals called "Vankum". We took great pains to explain the correct way that a "W" was pronounced in German but it didn't stop the giggling from the back seat.

I used to fill up at the last filling station in Germany before entering Holland which others have mentioned. Of course it was pronounced locally as "Vankum" and they wondered what was so funny
