We've shown your our top tips for blagging an airline upgrade. Have you ever had an upgrade? Do you have crafty tricks for nabbing a first-class seat you didn't pay for? Have you humiliated yourself in a bid to get a better seat? Share your thoughts.
In reply to Lord VB from Salisbury. If you ALWAYS fly business class, why is one looking through tips on how to nab a free upgrade? one is thinking one is taking the Michael!
once booked surprise flight to Toronto for my wife's birthday and telephoned a request for (and paid for) a bottle of champagne as an extra surprise on flight. We (mature travellers) had just settled in our economy seats when a steward came to upgrade us. Very, very nice. Perhaps they would have felt a bit uncomfortable serving champagne in Economy cabin ! !
Was flying to barbados once, whole family got upgraded to buisness class. Upon looking back into the economy class seats, there sat none other than Garry Lineka and his family!
That felt goood.
Personally I only ever travel business class, and I feel it lowers the tone to allow unpaid for seats in business/first class to be filled with riff raff. The airlines should offer the upgraded seats for a supplement. At least then one stands a chance of a better class of person alongside one.
I went on a flight once but ended up on buisiness class because the plane was so empty it had 10 passengers
I got lucky :)
