Late last year I took a weekend break to the city of York.
Great city, strange licensing laws.
Not at all child friendly where pubs and eating are concerned.
At the weekend, and no doubt this is true of many English cities, stag and hen party people descend and take the place over. Drunks everywhere and it is a real shame.
The local council I understand have written to Hoteliers and b and b joints requesting that they decline bookings from all male or all female clients, such is the extent of weekend pestilence.
Other than that it is a fine city with plenty to do and see, with York Minster a must.
I recently enjoyed a weekend in Berlin Hotel including flights for less than a hotel alone in uk
