Despite the foul weather, plenty of us are planning to take our summer holidays in the UK. Are you a big fan of holidaying in Britain? Have you had great experiences of seaside towns and resorts? What are your top tips for a truly great break in Blighty? Share all your thoughts and tips here.
Last summer we took our kids down to a fantastic place in the Norfolk broads called Wild Duck Holiday park. My son had a fantastic time learning to play football while the scenery was just beautiful.
You cant get much better than North Berick, with its lovely beaches and sea views, lots of nice little shops and eating places. They have the local sea bird sanctuary, and boat trips around the Bass Rock. For the more energetic you can also climb the Law,(615ft)
I would very strongly recommend DENT in Cumbria, this place beautiful.
Blackpool Rules!!!
Take your grandkids to Teignmouth in Devon. Great beach, good pier for little uns - great park on the sea from with climbing frames etc & a water play area which is perfectly safe. If u have little swimmers it has an open air pool with loungers & grassed area (Lido)
Near some lovely places, go across to Shaldon - which has a lovely park & a nice little zoo. Close to Paignton for the big zoo or to catch the steam train to Dartmouth.
Some nice enough places to eat in Teignmouth. Good rail links for you to park up the car & take a train. Good hotels both big & small. If you like trains you can wander down the sea wall & watch them. Dawlish is close & is a good place to while away a few hours. We have had several good holidays in Teignmouth with our eldest grand daughter who is now 7 - she loves it 7 wants to get everyone to go.
The weather has never let us down either. You can fly to Exeter as well if you want & get a taxi to Teignmouth - no need to take a car at all - though we make the journey down in the car part of our trip.
Go on give Teignmouth a try - its a change from Torquay & not as far as Newquay.
