Is it ever acceptable to bequest money to a pet? New York billionaire Leona Helmsley has left $12m (£5.97m) to her pet dog, Trouble. Is this a terrible waste of money or is safeguarding the upkeep of a loved pet understandable? Should the courts overturn her will and leave the money to her family instead? Have your say.
do americans who inherit pay inheritance tax?
I'll take it in and look after it.
I think its her money, and if she`s of sound body and mind, should be allowed to leave it to who she wants. The sad part of this story is that, the dog was more of a comfort to her than her family obviously was, what a sad world this is.
i believe the money should be given to some animal charity whether it be RSPCA or animals in distress it still goes towards the dogs upbringing, ha i bet the family are gutted shame tough life i guess but you try being a dog. it aint much fun iwould deffinately give my savings to my cats but at the same time it would mostly be dived to animal charity.
I love everything in this world including animals BUT giving this money to a pet is stupid! RSPCA is a good idea danielle, as we are the only ones who can take care of animals there is noone else but humans.
It's like me giving 12 million to my pet goldfish...just plain stupid
