Is it ever acceptable to bequest money to a pet? New York billionaire Leona Helmsley has left $12m (£5.97m) to her pet dog, Trouble. Is this a terrible waste of money or is safeguarding the upkeep of a loved pet understandable? Should the courts overturn her will and leave the money to her family instead? Have your say.
It's better to leave both the dog and money to the Battersey Dog's Home. I understand the motive leaving it to the pet so the new owner would not have an excuse to deny it medical care and is fed regularly and looked after properly.
Butunfortunately, what is to stop the a potential owner claiming the dog so he or she can have the dosh to spend on themselves & live in the lap of luxury while they abandon the animal to fend for itself?
Its up to you if you want to leave your money to your pet its YOUR money these people who moan it's a disgrace are just jelous and envious i am sure if the money was left to them they wouldnt be moaning.
i think its a joke , only the americans , would leave money to a dog!! but judging by the resonceson here i think a few of you are mental aswell , noticed though its all wimmen?? think that tells us more don't you,
ok i'm a pet lover and after my demise ifi had pets at the time i'm sure they would be well cared for , but c'mon 5.7 million quid ...sounds like a tax scam.. as pets wouldnt have to pay death duty (not being people) although some here would have you believe they are obviously thatwoman was a few ppork pies of a picnic , and her dogs were barking at the wrong door!!! now be realistic life expectancy of that wee dog depending how ld it is now? i think who ever is responcile for the dog is laughing all the way to the bank , i mean hows the dog gonna sign anything? with a paw print??
I bet thousands would like to adopt him!
I hope he does not spend it all on booze and loose women!
