The EU has given up its plan to force Britain to go metric. Britons can carry on using imperial measurements such as pints, pounds and miles. Is this a victory for British tradition or is it time the country conformed with Europe? With imperial measurements abandoned in school lessons decades ago is a metric Britain inevitable? Have your say.
Utopian, it's a bushel and a 'peck', use of the other will only get your feet wet!
Everybody should read "John" from Coventry's comments. Interesting and well written - Thanks John.
I think we need to get back to the bushel and the beck. I would also recommend that we go back to Roman numerals - after all the Romans conquered us and most of the known world. It would be great if the national lottery used Roman Numerals, but the Americans put a man on the Moon using feet and inches, ah well nothing is simple.
BACK IN 1900 THEY TRIED METRIC. NOW WE KNOW IT DOES NOT WORK. LOOK HOW THE ARCHTECTS CHEAT US IN SMALLER HOUSES,AND THE bUILDERS TAKE OF THEIR BOOTS AND count ON SMELLY TOES. GOOD OLD EDWARD THE FIRST GAVE US THE TRUE MEASURE AND A SCOT TOOK IT AWAY,NOW HE IS OUR PRIME MINISTER OF MIRTH
