EU shows an ounce of sense

The EU has given up its plan to force Britain to go metric. Britons can carry on using imperial measurements such as pints, pounds and miles. Is this a victory for British tradition or is it time the country conformed with Europe? With imperial measurements abandoned in school lessons decades ago is a metric Britain inevitable? Have your say.

metric is far more accurate and "yes" easy to use, thus giving more time to design!

its stupid we should have converted by now im 32 i was taught metric in school not imperial yet i still have to try to convert between the two as long as the scales in the fruit and veg shop show both measurements what is the problem we just want to hang on to a relic that was too complicated to begin with, it is all counting in twelves children today have a lot more to learn at school these days with computers and making primary school children learn french when to they have the time to learn about imperial measure they hardly have time to go to the toilet now they are expected to learn this my seven year old is learning french literacy numeracy music P.S.H.E writing workshop P.E science geography spellings R.E. ICT and then they have extended curriculum lessons when they have to go swimming in the summer she has been using fractions since she was six puntuatation since she was four now they expect them to learn imperial measure its too much we should switch

i have this theory that imperial measurements are what made this country great as someone who learnt imperial weights and measures at school and metric at work the metric is so easy you dont have to think about it whereas imperial measurements are so awkward you really have to think about it,what is now known these days as "brain training" was being used.could that be why the uk had so many geniuses
