What's the best British comedy?

Is Monty Python funnier than Only Fools and Horses? UKTV Gold asked 4,000 people to choose the British TV comedy they considered to be the most influential. Monty Python topped the list followed closely by Only Fools and Horses. Is Derek 'Del Boy' Trotter funnier than the Ministry of Silly Walks or maybe you prefer Blackadder, Little Britain, The Young Ones or something completely different?

Love only Fools the most out of the two, however Python is the most influential.

I don't see how you can compare the two shows as they are as different as chalk and cheese. Monty Python had its roots in the satire boom of the 60s and The Goon Show of the 50s it is more cerebral in its humour. only Fools.. is more mainstream and possibly appeals to a different audience
