Is Monty Python funnier than Only Fools and Horses? UKTV Gold asked 4,000 people to choose the British TV comedy they considered to be the most influential. Monty Python topped the list followed closely by Only Fools and Horses. Is Derek 'Del Boy' Trotter funnier than the Ministry of Silly Walks or maybe you prefer Blackadder, Little Britain, The Young Ones or something completely different?
Peter from North Shields, you must be phsycic. I was only watching that particular episode astnight with my husband. Very funny indeed.
I love "Only Fools and Horses" and "Monty Python" too. I am also very much a "Blackadder" and "Fawlty Towers" fan.
However, I must put in a vote for the brilliant Leonard Rossiter comedy (no, not "Rising Damp"!) but "The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin".
"Eleven minutes late", the hippopotamus, CJ "I didn't get where I am today...", "What's the weather like in Brazil in the winter? Chile" etc
Great. Super.
Need I say more?
only fools is best, the other ones are not repeated, I can not remember them, and what about RIGBY,rising damp, ray daggett
(Newcastle)
hard to compare as they are something completely different and both very funny it is the best sketch show ever versus best british ****.monty edges it for original stuff and inspiration to others
Monty Python is the single most important programme in the history of British TV comedy, utterly redefining the rules of the game and continuing to exert an influence over generations of both audience and writers/performers that cannot be overstated. Fools & Horses is a well written and well acted ****, but basically a retread of Steptoe & Son; it breaks no new ground, being the apex of an old and established form rather than any kind of attempt to be a new one. There really is no comparison.
