For most of us, the hour's break in the middle of the day passes in a whirlwind of grabbing a bite to eat, maybe catching up with a few household chores like paying a bill or nipping down to the post office. But there are plenty of things that we could do in an hour, if only we could find a little inspiration. So, what do you do that you think other Virgin Media customers might find enjoyable? Are you lucky enough to work near a museum or park, do you hit the gym or pound the pavement? Have your say.
We have a flexi-time system where we can earn up to 26 days a year off, so we usually have the minimum lunch break (20 minutes) and save the remaining 25 inutes towards our extra time off work.
I get a paid hours lunch break any time between 12 and 2. Over-running isnt particularly frowned upon either.
Basically, I might go home, go for a drive, buy things, visit the pub, call long distance on the office phone, flirt with the receptionist a little, scoff a pie while messing around playing something like "office footy"" with the lads.
Man, i love my dinner break.
Employers that don't allow a lunch hour for their employees to settle down and have some dinner are basically forcing workers to down lunches as fast as they can, leaving the employees open to indigestion and illness and claims for illness suffered as a result of their hard unfair policies on dinner and break periods. If I had my own company I WOULD allow employees to have a lunch-hour and stick two fingers up to the Thatcher's "Lunch Is For Wimps" idiots and ignore them.
nip to the restroom and quietly choke your chicken
drink/play scrabble/eat/smoke/go to the bookies
