  1. Question

    Cal Geens from West Bromwich:

    Oct 8, 21:58

Was very pleased to see Andy Farrell score for England. He was a top class R/League player. How do you rate him as a R/Union
    player? Regards Cal

    Answer

    Mike Catt:

Faz has performed really well over the past three weeks and he was very unlucky to get injured before the Australia game. His distribution is very good, he played well against Tonga and he's a big defensive asset. I think he's improved immensely as a Rugby Union player.

  2. Question

    Kevin Foley from Birmingham:

    Oct 8, 20:37

Hi Mike, I loved the way England went to task against Australia. What are the odds on a South African England final that would be great!!!

    Answer

    Mike Catt:

You never know Kevin because its been such an unpredictable World Cup. All four teams have a great chance of making the final but another crack at South Africa would be great.

  3. Question

    Rudy (RSA) from Worthing:

    Oct 8, 20:28

Hey, good game on Saturday, but what i want to know is what are you going to do if something happens to Jonny?

    Answer

    Thanks Rudy:

Luckily, it looks like Jonny will be fit but we're fortunate that most of the squad has come through unscathed. We have both Andy Farrell and Olly Barkely fit again and Toby Flood as well so it's fair to say we have plenty of quality cover in that area!

  4. Question

    Tom from Birmimgham:

    Oct 8, 19:37

Gr8 game against the Aussies, I thought the forwards did a great job and you put in a great tackle, I always wonder when I'm waching an england game, why does Jonny Wilkinson always wear a pad on his right arm?

    Answer

    Mike Catt:

Hi Tom. Thanks for the kind words. Jonny wears this as a precaution to protect an old bicep injury.

  5. Question

    Sandy Holmes from Bradford Yorkshire:

    Oct 8, 17:54

Hi Mike, what a great game on Saturday well done to them all. Rugby is my favorite sport, especially England. How is the team building going for the lads? I hope they are really getting down to the nitty gritty stuff now. I would really love to have been there, but have had brain tumor removed, would love to see all the team though, anyway best of luck i will be watching.

    Answer

    Mike Catt:

Hi Sandy. After the France win, the confidence in the camp is extremely high and we showed against Australia that the time spent together over the past few weeks has really started to pay off. We'll try our best!

  6. Question

    mick simpson from nottingham:

    Oct 8, 17:29

    Hi Mike please give all the guys In the squad a big kiss for me er only jokin but well done to you ALL! I would like to ask you Mike - Its so frustrating for us watching whether Its Rugby or Cricket,we seem to be letting the Cameras take over the Refs duties! Even the refs when It looks blatantly obvious a try has been scored or In Cricket when a run-out occurs - we still have to go to the third umpire or the TV In rugby for a judgment! Doesn't it get on the players wick of Is It a chance to catch your breadth? Reg Mick;

    Answer

    Mike Catt:

Hi Mick. I think it's actually good to go to the TMO (television match official) to make a judgment on a crunch call. If you've got the technology to decide a tough decision when the stakes are so high, you should use it. It also gives an old guy like me a chance to catch my breath.

  7. Question

    Mark from Reading:

    Oct 8, 14:57

Congrats to Catty and the boys for a GREAT win - could've / should've been more but a win all the same. Now France, Catty - having played France in a "friendly" before the RWC and not producing the desired result, what gives you the belief that we'll beat the French in their Parisian back garden?

    Answer

    Mike Catt:

Firstly, France will be fairly physically drained after their win against New Zealand and there will be a lot of pressure and expectation on them at home. If we get ahead early, hopefully we can exert the pressure and it will get to them.

  8. Question

    bobo from bournemouth:

    Oct 8, 14:46

did the words {everybody hates england}spur you all on that little bit extra. fantastic so proud of you all. in it to win it, come on england.

    Answer

    Mike Catt:

I don't think you need any extra motivation to get up for a World Cup quarter final, let alone a game against Australia. But it was nice to send them packing after some of the things they said!
