  1. Question

    BOB SMITH from GROVE OXon:

    Oct 21, 10:21

WAS IT A TRY OR NOT

    Answer

    Mike Catt:

It wasn't given so you'd have to say it wasn't. But at the time we all though it was a try and Mark Cueto still insists it is.

  2. Question

    Gavin from Norwich:

    Oct 21, 08:18

What did you feel like after the try that should of been was not given? and do you think you should of given away less penalties?

    Answer

    Mike Catt:

We all thought it was a try at the time Gavin and Mark Cueto still insists it was. With hindsight perhaps the ref got it right but it was very unlucky it was not given at the time. We definitely should have conceded less penalties, yes and three out of the five came from our own mistakes.

  3. Question

    Genette from Coventry:

    Oct 20, 23:43

Why do you touch your right ear every time the camera comes to you when you sing the National Anthem - What does it mean?

    Answer

    Mike Catt:

It's a gesture to say hello to my folks back home in South Africa

  4. Question

    kate from nottingham:

    Oct 20, 23:30

What did you say to the ref after the try was not given and since watching the replay, do you think it was a just decision?

    Answer

    Mike Catt:

Hi Kate. We all thought it was a try at the time and my reaction was one of a little disbelief. Even having watched the replay a number of times and listening to mark Cueto it is really touch and go. With hindsight I suppose you can say it was the right decision.

  5. Question

    Karla from Ulster:

    Oct 20, 23:06

Thanks for the answer last time :) Too bad about the title boys, but you certainly didn't go down without a fight. What was your opinion on the game though? Do you think the ref was hard on you or calls didn't go your way very often?

    Answer

    Mike Catt:

Hi again Karla. Unfortunately we made three silly errors which led to three of their penalties. Otherwise it was a close match and they never really looked like scoring. I thought Schalk Burger should have sin binned for stopping a certain score for us and the try was touch and go. You win some, you lose some!

  6. Question

  7. Question

    Olly from North of London:

    Oct 18, 21:11

England have never really looked like the manager has had a plan-the players appear to have guessed right in matches. No specifics required but, do the lads have a plan of not just how the English team should play but, how to play to beat South Africa? Quite often they can be 2 different things?

    Answer

    Mike Catt:

All I can say is that we do, of course, have a definite game plan to beat South Africa. Of course, it didn't work before, but as I've said in my columns, since that game we've really played the way we wanted to play and the way I like to play the game. We're a different team from that pool game and the confidence and belief is tremendous. I'd like to say thank you to everybody for your messages of support for myself and the team. We'll do our very best!

    Answer

    Mike Catt:

Thanks Joshua. We're all obviously extremely excited about Saturday and really looking forward to the occasion. Now we're in the final, anything can happen and we need to play to our strengths and try to grab the opportunity on the day.
