  1. Question

Well after that shock defeat,I as a welshman will not get carried away with that victory at HQ!I think in time with the new coaches we have we can gain respect again. But what do you think of Wales chances now in this 6 Nations?

    Answer

    Mika Catt:

I think Warren Gatland and Shaun Edwards are brilliant Martin. The rush defence worked really well. How many red shirts were there when Balshaw was charged down? Seven or eight. I don't know what was said in the dressing room at half time but it worked! How far can you go? Possibly all the way and you do have France at home, which could be a critical match.

  2. Question

    Vincent from Newport (Wales):

    Feb 2, 19:43

Watching the game as a rugby player myself it looked that after the first half England tried to open up the game and expected to win by 20 or 30 points. Do you think they were to over confident to do this? plus Wales looked the much fitter of the two sides towards the end.

    Answer

    Mike Catt:

As a player you're spot on Vincent. When you’re up 19-6 you really should control the game, pin the corners, control territory and let them make the mistakes in their own half. we didn’t do that and squandered chanced to kill the game before half-time by not taking the points on offer. We didn't seem to have a plan B and the communication just didn't seem to be there when the chips were down, which was disappointing.

  3. Question

    Steve from his house:

    Feb 2, 19:15

So England have been beaten by a Welsh club side,(Ospreys), giving it away. Where do we go from here?

    Answer

    Mike Catt:

Well we go to Rome and we simply have to win Steve! As Brian said, our decision making was poor in the second half and we've got to learn how to close a game down when we're on top and kick better out of hand if the running game isn't working.

  4. Question

    Gavin from Norwich:

    Feb 2, 18:29

If England cant beat wales that isn't one of the most tactical playing side in the 6 nations do you think they have a chance against other times like ireland that have good tactical play?

And was Brian Ashton as bad as you said he was to The Sun during the rwc?

  5. Question

    Sandy Holmes from Bradford:

    Feb 2, 17:29

What do you think of Lesley Vinakolo, i'm bulls suporter and we all really miss him, but proud that he is playing for England.

    Answer

    Mike Catt:

Hello Sandy. Lesley got his chance early when Strettle went off injured and made an immediate impact. It was a brilliant take and offload for the try but I did think his work off the ball could have been better. I would have liked to see him come off the wing and stand at first receiver or come off Jonny’s shoulder and take three guys out in the tackle. But he's so new to the game and has plenty of time to learn.

  6. Question

    James Dickety from Oxfordshire:

    Feb 2, 16:05

Do you think that Italy are improving? Is it a good thing that they are for international rugby?

    Answer

    Mike Catt:

I definitely think they are James and we saw against Ireland that they're not a team that will lie down lightly any more. Nick Mallett is a good coach to have and they could cause an upset although they are wooden spoon favourites again.

  7. Question

    pugrugby from wirral:

    Jan 31, 23:58

do you think that england has perpered for this match or is it like the world cup . i dont think aston is up to it do you

    Answer

    Mike Catt:

It's a re-building stage for England so I think Brian is treating it in a different way. He's said he wants to play a more expansive brand of rugby which was the case in the first half against Wales but on the other hand extremely naive in the second. The team needs time to gel and we can only judge at the end of the campaign.
