Should Usain Bolt show more respect?

Olympics boss Jacques Rogge has told Usain Bolt to show more respect for opponents after the Jamaican claimed the first sprint double for 24 years.

Bolt showboated at the start and finish of his world-record breaking 200m race and slowed up yards from the line in the 100m final so he could celebrate. According to Rogge, this is not the way a champion should behave.

"That's not the way we perceive being a champion," Rogge told Associated Press. "I've no problem with him doing a show. But I think he should show more respect and shake hands after the finish."

Do you agree with Rogge that Bolt should show more respect to his opponents or do you think his fresh, confident demeanour is good for the sport? Have your say now.

Bolt had a right to celebrate; I do not think he was disrespectful to the other athletes. Bolt did a great thing for his country on the world stage and his spirit and personality shone through. I look forward to seeing him perform and seeing him do his trademark lightning bolt pose.

I think Bolt is BRILLIANT. He really brought out the true West Indian happiness and it spread throughout the stadium and no doubt the world. Yes he appeared laid back, thats in his nature, but he delivered the goods. OK he did not shake the others hands at first, why, because he was so elated with his win for his country. May we see this man for many years to come. He really brightened up the whole of the Olympics and even Michael Johnson who I loved to see run was over the moon with Bolt.
I am not West Indian , but white English carry on producing athletes such as Bolt Jamaica. As for arrogance just look to our footballers!!!!!!

Talk about double standards. When is the last time you saw a sprinter go back and shake the other athletes hands. All of a sudden Bolt is expected to perform this duty which is not the norm in the sport. It is more acceptable for the losers to shake the winner's hand. Bolt did celebrate with the other athletes who came up to him at the end of the 200. Did you forget Spearman lifting him up. Did anyone recall when Lola Jones fell in the hurdles and her fellow country woman won the race did she even turn back to say fellow American are you okay. NO. She went about her merry way celebrating. Did you see Michael Phelps screaming at the top of his lungs when he won the relay. Whose hands did he shake. This double standard exposes the racism that still exist in this world. Also that money talks. Bolt is a fine man. He has never trashed talk another athlete before a race, and he does not do drugs. The man did a DANCE. How terrible is that.

Rogge should try to understand his position in the sporting world and not overstep it. Bolt is a remarkable champion while Rogge is merely an administrator who can and will be replaced at some point by another administrator.
