Fernando Alonso has labelled it his least favourite circuit and VM columnist Eddie Irvine has blasted it as 'unnacceptable' and 'atrocious'. Do you think the Indianapolis F1 circuit is the worst on the calendar? What other circuits do you disapprove of? Listen to Eddie's comments and tell us if you agree with him.
Totally disagree with Eddie. It's not my favourite, those honours lie with Monza, Spa and Monaco, however it encompasses an increasingly rare asset.. ...a long straight.. and guess what.. they reach speeds of.. ..over 200 mph on it.. WOW ! I appreciate that this is a now considered a chicane inducing figure, but please bear in mind cars 40 odd years ago were hitting that..
I'd have Indianapolis anyday over the sterile Go-Kart tracks dumped in deserts that Bernie seems so kean on.
what about monaco? complete boredom
I was at Indy for the return of F1 in 2000, brilliant the speed at which the cars come down the straightaway and the overtaking opportunities into the 1st corner are exhilarating. Jan from Dorset's view is that Canada was boring, I am astonished what does she class as excitement? Nuclear holocaust! The problem is we have got used to processional F1, anything other than this upsets our Sundays.
At least Indy has some overtaking opportunities and some character, unlike most of the new circuits, which are character-less and soul-less. I'm thinking of the likes of Shanghai, the new Hockenheim, and Turkey, all of them are appalling, boring identikit tracks.
Bring back the old Hockenheim, Mexico, Zandvoort, and Watkins Glen say I!!
The worst circuit has to be Monaco, never seems to generate any excitement. What it does offer is best catered for by celebrity magazines, not F1.
