A dismal performance against South Africa ended England's Cricket World Cup and it's hard to see where Michael Vaughan's men go from here? Who or what is to blame? And what can be done to help English cricket, particularly the coloured-clothing type, get back on its feet? Tell us what you think.
Fletcher has resigned and good riddance. David Graveney should follow suit.
I was ashamed to call myself an England supporter when I watched the team show a total lack of ability, a total lack of courage and determination, a total lack of commitment and, finally, a total lack of pride in representing their Country.
As for Michael Vaughan, he should stick to what he's good at. He's simply not a One Day cricketer and definitely not a One Day Captain. Five day Test matches are much more his cup of tea.
Ricky Ponting said that Duncan Fletcher had a lot to be proud of. I disagree. If England had stayed at World No 2 and possibly competed for the top spot, I might have agreed. As it is, they didn't last 5 minutes and have been beaten on more than one occasion by teams that can best be described as "Minnows". It showed that winning back the ashes was just a fluke.
Let's hope that someone with vision can take over and instil into the team the will and skill to make us proud again.
i,m ashamed give the top job to botham the brian clough of cricket.
I think that leaving out some older, in-form players is a mistake, but also leaving out a player who I played against at school, namely Ally Cook, when he was demonstrating top form, was a big error. My vote is Trescothick to replace Vaughan, not just as a team member, but as captain.
No point Fletcher going if Graveney dosn't go as well. Time to rebuild. The English public will tolerate numerous defeats to a side that is loosing but playing with pride and showing honest commitment.(like the Irish)
So Fletcher has gone which has to be good. However, the CHAIRMAN of SELECTORS does not seem so keen to take a share in the blame for the pathetic performances that the general public have had to witness. Come on David, in the interest of ENGLISH cricket please please follow suite.
