John Terry - the the butt of internet jokes for his tears and shanked Champions League penalty - was chosen as Fabio Capello's captain for the friendly against USA at Wembley.
However, he is by no means the only candidate for the role. Rio Ferdinand was previously thought to be the preferred choice of 'Don Fabio' , while Steven Gerrard has also skippered the side under Capello. And Aston Villa's Gareth Barry is expected to wear the armband for the first time against Trinidad and Tobago on Sunday.
What is better - Terry's blood and thunder approach or Gerrard's 'laissez-faire' approach? Who do you think is the best man for the captain's role? Have your say HERE.
I believe John Terry has the heart for it, he is not the best player in the team, but so what however one for the near future is Gareth Barry, that guy should have played a lot more for England and Capello must have him ahead of Frank Lampard alongside Gerrard.
Firstly we must try and get a team that will be good enough to compete with other countries such as Brazil, Italy, France, Croatia and other world class teams. once we have that in place then the choice of captain can be made. From the performances of the England team I believe that the time has come to reduce the number of foreign players in the premiership league and encourage and promote more home grown talent. Failing this we will never win the world cup again.
def not gerrard hes a club player and doesnt produce for his country.he might not swear but he dives
jt no other makes the grade
well taking it better than these tosers is JOHN TERRY
