Who should captain England?

John Terry - the the butt of internet jokes for his tears and shanked Champions League penalty - was chosen as Fabio Capello's captain for the friendly against USA at Wembley.

However, he is by no means the only candidate for the role. Rio Ferdinand was previously thought to be the preferred choice of 'Don Fabio' , while Steven Gerrard has also skippered the side under Capello. And Aston Villa's Gareth Barry is expected to wear the armband for the first time against Trinidad and Tobago on Sunday.

What is better - Terry's blood and thunder approach or Gerrard's 'laissez-faire' approach? Who do you think is the best man for the captain's role? Have your say HERE.

    David Beckam is not the man for the job,he is past his best and is not fit enough to play at this level any more.And as for being the best sports roll model of our time,what a load of b""""""s.How can a tattoed,sruffy person who can't even talk properly,have such a label.The person to be captain in my opinion is Steven Gerrard.

    the best man for the job without a doubt is the man that led us out agaist triidad, David B. still think he world class player an good leader on an off pitch. an prob the best sports roll model of our time. if not then john terry.
